The Charter
Founded in 1946
Lakewood Masonic Lodge #170 was chartered in 1946 under the Grand Lodge of Colorado, at a time when Lakewood was still a young and rapidly growing community on the western edge of the Denver metro area.
The lodge was founded by a group of brothers who believed that Lakewood deserved a local home for Freemasonry, a place where men of character could gather, grow, and serve their neighbors.
The Founding Era
1946 was a watershed year in American life. World War II had just ended, and veterans were returning home to build communities, start families, and create institutions. It was in this spirit that a group of men in Lakewood chose to establish a Masonic lodge, rooted in the values of service, brotherhood, and moral development that had sustained men through difficult times for centuries.

Lakewood Lodge #170 was chartered during the post-war years, a period when membership in fraternal organizations grew significantly across the United States and new lodges were formed to serve expanding communities.
The Grand Lodge of Colorado
Lakewood Lodge #170 operates under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Colorado, which was itself established in 1861, the same year the Colorado Territory was organized. The Grand Lodge sets standards, provides governance, and connects the lodges of Colorado into a unified brotherhood that spans the entire state.

Charter Granted
Lakewood Masonic Lodge #170 receives its charter from the Grand Lodge of Colorado, established by a founding group of brothers committed to bringing Masonic brotherhood to the growing western Denver community.
Mid-Century
Growth & Community
Through the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, Lodge #170 grows alongside Lakewood itself. The lodge becomes a fixture of community life, participating in civic events, charitable drives, and the wider network of Colorado Freemasonry.
2015
A New Masonic Home
Lodge #170 moves into its current building. The cornerstone is laid by the Grand Lodge of Colorado on August 27, 2015, in the traditional Masonic manner, marking a new chapter for the lodge in Lakewood.
Today
An Active Lodge
Lakewood Lodge #170 enters its ninth decade as an active, growing lodge. We hold regular meetings, Tuesday meet & greet events, degree work, and charitable activities throughout the year.

The Cornerstone of Our Current Building
Lodge #170 moved into its present home in Lakewood in 2015. On August 27 of that year, the Grand Lodge of Colorado laid the cornerstone of the building in the traditional Masonic manner, the same ceremony Masons have performed for public and private buildings for centuries.
We share the building with sister lodges that also serve this part of Colorado. Our lodge room is where brothers are raised to Master Mason, where each year’s officers take their chairs, and where the traditions of the craft are passed from one group of men to the next.
